She had to go to the doctor while we were in dallas. She has 2 ear infections, so no swimming for 7 days.
Tomorrow we will go to Emma Graces birthday party. The girls are really excited to so her. I am trying to post some new pictures of the kids so dont forget to go look.

She is diving off the deep end of the pool. She can swim the entire length of the pool. After getting Amber from therapy we go back swimming. We have both dogs with us here. Nanas dog and Ambers dog. They are driving me crazy. Alizabeth mets with the counselor today at 3. I am very excited about that. Maybe they can get rid of that Dooley Sutton attitude. Ha ha.
Well I will try to keep this updated for those who are reading everyday. Amber likes to post, she is keeping a diary of her daily activities at therapy so she can post those. Please keep us in your prayers. Amber is physically doing great but she is going to need alot of help and ecouragement from people that love her.

I have been talking to Shannon on messenger. He is doing good. I talked to his wife Ann alittle tonight. That is why I am up so late. Hopefully she can come home with him next year so we all can met her.

A Special Prayer Request!

I am asking everyone to please say a prayer for my daughter Madison Pruitt she is 14 years old and last September she was diagnosed with a very unique type of thyroid cancer. I am a single mother of three children. This has been a very difficult year. Madison has done very well through all this. I am very proud of her! She is one of the strongest people I know! Her faith in god family and friends has got through this terrible situation! Now I will explain the situation in more detail. This started with a lymph node in her neck that would not go away. I took her to our family physician Dr. Patrick Deere, M.D. and he first gave her antibiotics it still did not go away. He suggested that we needed to see an ENT Specialist, so he referred us to Dr. Clifford Rice with Christus Schumpert Highland. Dr. Rice performed a biopsy of her lymph nodes and at that time she was diagnosed with Diffuse Sclerosing Variant Papillary Thyroid Carcinoma. Dr. Rice and Dr. Deere made every effort to get her to St Judes Hospital and Madison was refused because they consider Thyroid Cancer an adult disease. At that time Dr Clifford Rice, M.D. with Christus Schumpert Highland referred us to Dr. Timothy Lian with the Feist Weiller Cancer Center at LSU Health Sciences Center (Head of the ENT Surgery Department). Within the time she was diagnosed and her surgery was scheduled (a 6 week period) her condition went from an enlarged thyroid and 6 abnormal lymph nodes to a enlarged thyroid a huge tumor and 17 lymph nodes this cancer had progressively grew and moved not only in her neck but throughout her chest and attached to her heart. Dr. Lian and his staff were wonderful. They performed surgery on October 5th, they were very pleased after the 7-8 hour surgery. Terrifying for myself and her family and friends. She spent 10 days in ICU at LSU before being released. Six weeks later Dr. Sudha Reddy (Pediatric Endocrinologist) order her to have a radiation treatment which was supposed to treat and kill any thyroid tissues left or lymph nodes after her surgery. Dr. Reddy also treated Madison during the time she was admitted at LSU for her surgery. Madison had to wait 6 months before she could have another thyroid scan and that’s where we are at this point. She had her thyroid scan in November and from that point it has lead us here today(August 2007). She has had every test that Dr. Reddy can order at LSU. She just had another Ultrasound, Pet Scan, Cat Scan and more blood work. Dr. Reddy discovered that with these test and blood work she now has new thyroid tissue and lymph nodes present which can result in the cancer coming back at any time if it’s not already present. Remember this is a very progressive cancer. Dr. Reddy has been consulting other physicians over the last several weeks about Madison's situation from different facilities to get second opinions because this is such a unique cancer and Madison is only 14. Dr. Reddy has recommended that she go to M.D. Anderson to see Dr. Steven Waguespack (Specialist). Dr. Reddy is a wonderful Doctor and she is doing everything she can to get Madison the best care possible for this type of cancer. M.D. Anderson has informed me that they will not accept Louisiana Medicaid and would require full payment up front, which they are talking about 30 to 40 thousand dollars. This physician at M.D. Anderson wants to see and treat Madison because he has the availability to do more extensive research and treatment than what LSU can offer. He has also asked the administration office to see what they can do but at his time they are still refusing to see her. I have spoke with Louisiana Medicaid and they are willing to pay for her care at M.D. Anderson so my question is why will they not accept a child with insurance willing to pay for her care and treatment and a Physician at there facility willing to treat her? Today at this point Dr. Reddy has made arrangements for Madison to go to Boston’s Children’s Hospital at Harvard. Dr. Stephen Huang will be her physician there. We will be leaving on October 27, 2007. They have informed me that the first week that were there everything will be done as outpatient services; they have her surgery scheduled for November 5, 2007. I have come to find out that everything in Boston is much more expensive there. We are having a hard time finding a hotel there because the playoffs are there the week are going. I have reserved a hotel for the first 4 days at a 50% discount it will still cost us $149.99 per night. We will continue to search for another hotel between now and when we leave. There has been a special account set up for Madison Pruitt at Regions Bank for donations to help with our expenses while were there. There are several people that I would like to thank that have helped so far with our air fare. All of my family, The Springhill United Methodist Church, The Old United Methodist Church of Shongaloo, The United Methodist Church of Haynesville, The Patient Advacate Foundation (Kimberly Owen), The American Cancer Society (Glynna and Lisa) out of the Shreveport office, Cancer Foundation League of Louisiana, The National Children’s Cancer Society, KTAL Channel 6 News (Wanda and Jessica), Continental Express. I would also like to thank everyone that helped last year while we were in Shreveport, LA. My Family, Friends and the churches from my home town Umpire, AR helped a great deal and I appreciate every one of them so very much! I just want everyone to know that all the help, prayers and support that we have had has been so greatly appreciated!!

She is doing better. Dr. Harch stopped oxygen therapy because she was getting alittle too much of it. So we have to go back in a month or so for 2 more weeks. She is so excited to get back home and see all of her friends. She is wanting to have a sleep over Friday night. I guess we can't get out of that one... Ha ha
Alizabeth is staying with Emma Grace tonight. Kristie just called but she would not talk to me. We miss her so much. And Tyler too...
We can't wait to see one of Tylers ballgames. We have not seen him play football in highschool yet.
Wewe is home from the hospital. Amber is ready to get home and see her.
We are staying at the Hampton Inn in Baton Rouge. Amber says it is alot nicer motel than New Orleans. She has been playing with the people downstairs.

We are coming up on 1 year since the wreck and I challenge you to go back to the begining and look how far she has come, then I want you to pray and thank the living God for working in our lives. She is a walking testimemt to what He can do and how prayer is the power of the believer, through Jesus Christ!

Sun. 08-12-2007:

Amber started the day fussy, Me and Amber ate breakfast about 10:00 am @ IHOP. She was grouchy and mean towards Lizzy. She took a good nap 1 1/2 to 2 hrs long and was better the rest of the day.

Mon. 08-13-2007:

Amber and I got up about 7:30 am, went to Burger King and ate breakfasst. She seemed more "mature-acting" early. We went to Sylvan Learning Center to take reading comprehension test @ 9:00 am. The test usually takes about 90 mins. to take but at 10:45 am called and said she had a "head-ache". I've learned that that means she's become tired and frustrated. It was all fine with her tutors, they said we would break the tests up into 4 or 5 parts to comply with her needs.

We ate lunch @ Chili's. Amber seemed "sillier" today, her "slapping your shoulder" at the punchline of her jokes was back. Goofey acting off and on all day.

She had Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy Treatment (HBOT) at 2:00 pm. After therapy Amber was fussy and fought with Lizzy in the pool by dunking her. Swimming was cut short to 30 mins. Both girls were fussy after swimming.

Amber's vision still improving since HBOT started before we came back down her right eye had went from legally blind to 3 pres. strengths higher. The last couple of days she has been complaining with her vision and not wanting to wear her glasses. So we went to an eye doctor here and guess what...it has changed again..one more higher...I think it's 20/60 in the right and 20/20 in the left.By-the-way if your new to the latest in kids glasses frames it seems that the "horned-rimmed" or as Am says the "Austin Powers" look is in! Ha! Ha!

Tues. 08-14-2007:

Amber started out the day sleepy. We went to her new therapy it's called Neurofeedback-LENS treatment. Amber and I both received the treatment which consist of having electrodes placed on both ears and receiving and electroninc radio wave transmitted to your brain. I know it sounds very strange, but it works!! Amber went from sleepy to very uncontrollablle laughter and first. She settled down and (get this) played with Lizzy all day without one panick attack or being mean. I would say she had the patience of a saint today. Amber went to her Sylvan testing and cruised trough the last 3 parts of her reading comp. testing. She had her HBOT treatment. We are excited about the preliminary results from the Neurofeedback treatments. She also went to the Chiropractor and got an adjustment.

Wed. 08-15-2007:

Amber seems to still be doing better since Neurofeedback treatments. She had just one HBOT treatment today and we went to a dinner cruise at 7:00 pm on the steamboat "Natchez". The boat was tiring, but fun. Amber only had one panick attack, but for the whole day it was dramatically lower than usual. Amber's vision, reading, and coheretness abilities are showing more improvement. She has sat and read more the past few days doing 5 grade level work sheets in science and helping Lizzy with her Kindergarden level worksheets. Amber made the statement today that she felt more like a normal kid than she has since the wreck.

Thur. 08-16-2007:

Today started out early Lizzy was up with leg cramps and an earache early or all night. I went to a 24hr drug store at 5:00Am for Tylenol. Lizzy and Karri slept in for the Sylvan testing. I washed the truck while Am did her math testing. She finished all but one part that she will finish Monday. Amber's silliness has crept back in today and she has had a few more "panick Attacks" but still better than before neurofeedback. She did her HBOT today at 2:00 pm and was hungry and thirsty when she got out. She and Lizzy swam for a couple of hours and we went and ate seafood at a fish market/restaurant. We went to Wal-mart and came back to the hotel. Amber told us that she still remember the bible verse she had trouble memorizing for bibleschool 3 or 4 weeks ago. And she said it to us exactly like it says, "If you confess, with your mouth, Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart, God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." Romans 10:9. She also says she can see better out of her right eye, almost as good as her left. Looks like we may be getting new glasses again soon!

Had 2 Hbot's today we ate at BK this morning Amber talked to Krissy one time on the way to HBOT and once on the way back. We got cappachinos after therapy (Amber got de-caff. of course, no comment on mine!!) She's been a lot more aggresive and pannick attacks occured more frequently today. But have no fear she has another Neurofeedback tommorrow at 7:00AM

It is sooooo hot here. Jeffrey is down with us, Waller Singer is letting him stay down here with us.
From our last treatment, Ambers eyes have improved 3 prescriptions lighter in her right eye. She has full movement left and right with her right eye. She is alot more calmer. She can set and read or draw for hours. We are so proud of her.
We only do one treatment a day this time. Monday she will start with Sylvan learning system to help her catch up on school work. Then when we get home we want to find her a retired teacher. Maybe next year she will be ready to start school. So any of you that knows any retired teachers looking for a job give me a call.
We are fixing to take the girls to a movie. Update u later...

Right now the changes comes and goes but the doctor said that is normal. I have met alot of people that is doing this and they say that one day your brain just kicks on.
Daddy and Lizzy made it down here. I think dad has missed us. Lizzy didn't have time to miss us. She stayed with two of her friends last week, which was her first time to sleep at a friends house. She also took swimming lessons with Beall.
Aunt Brenda came down and her and mom got them a room. We all went to the French Quarter Saturday. Jeffrey took the girls to the Aquarium while the rest of us shopped in the market area. It was sooo hot. That night we took the girls to see Shrek 3. It was so funny.
Today we went to the gardens, then came back to the room and the girls swam. Amber was swimming across the whole pool, with floaties on. She got brave and would put her head under water. Alizabeth took her floaties off and would jump from the side. It is a salt water pool so evertime Lizzy jumped in she had to get out and drink some coke. :-)
Jeffrey goes back home tomorrow. Don't think he wants too but he has a couple more games to coach. We heard from Tyler today. He made it back from a church trip. I think he had lots of fun.
Please keep us in your prayers... Amber is still healing very much everyday. She is still going strong. Don't think anything can get her down.

We had a blast today. Tomorrow Amber starts her treatments again.

She is 10 years old today. She said she only has 3 more years to be a teenager.
The girls got to see pawpa Henry this morning with the webcam. He looks good. He showed us his appartment in Kuwait. It is really nice. Uncle Shan is getting married in 10 days. We wish we could be there.
We have to go to New Orleans next weekend to see Dr. Sholas. We had a hard last week. My grandpa, Joe Hopson, passed away and we had his funeral on Monday. Then the kids and Jeffrey got the stomach flu. They are all better now.
Amber is doing good. She has alot of struggles everyday but she is getting through them just fine.

I worked for a couple of hours but the girls got tired. That night we went to Monroe and saw Debbie Blake sing. She was in the top 3. Amber met Joe Diffey.
Today Amber had an appoitment with Audiology Specialist in Monroe. She has alot of hearing loss in her right ear. She is going to have to have a hearing aid. And of course Amber picked the color BLUE. It did not seem to bother her. I had to take her to the ER tonight and have a CT scan. She is having some heaviness on her right side. So her Dr wanted a CT done. And praise the Lord it looked good.
Amber was telling the doctor today about her wreck and the things that has happened to her. Well the doctor gave Amber the address of the man who wrote 90 Minutes in Heaven. She said that he would love to talk to her. So Amber is real excited.
Lizzy started softball practice Friday. She is doing real good. Amber is helping coach, but she thinks she is the head coach. Lizzy says that Amber is not going to tell her what to do. So it might be a long summer.
I would like for you to pray for my grandmother and grandpa. They are both in the hospital. Don't know what is wrong with them yet, they was thinking it was pneumonia but don't really know. So please put them in your prayers. I would also like for you to pray for Paula's husband, she used to be Paula Yeager. Her husband was in a car wreck and he has been in LSU Shreveport. I think they were moving him to Touro in New Orleans. We know what Paula and her family is going through and we would like them to have the prayers and support that Amber had.

She said Ambers eyes are improving each time she sees her. We have an evaluation tomorrow with the eye doctor for a new therapy called NeuroNet. Amber will still be taking her vision therapy in Monroe.

Her right eye is healing everyday. She is just a special little girl. She makes our day, sometimes our days are so long and tiring, but she makes them brighten up so much.
Things are still hard for Amber, she gets very frustrated when she cant accomplish something right away, but she is very determined to get to get it right. She is so thankful for all the prayers. We are too. We know that we could not have gotten this for if it wasn't for everyone who prayed and the Lords good work. Thank you so much....
We wanted to tell Mr. Sharon and Mrs. Joyce that we love them and we are praying for them in their loss. We love yall so much and we are so sorry for the loss of your daughter. But we know that she is in a better place with our awesome God. We will keep you and your family in our prayers everyday.

Her therapies are going well. She did not make it in school last Thursday. She got to tired right off and I had to go get her. She misses all of her friends and wants to be normal again. But we keep telling her that she is doing great. She loves her new glasses. She got a second pair because she scratched the lense on the old pair. The eye doctor said Wednesday that her vision was improving a great bit. She was very pleased.
Ol Grumpy and Uncle Shan will be home next Saturday. Amber can't wait. She misses them so much. This will be the first time they see her since her wreck.

She went to therapy with us today. She got to see what Amber does three days a week. Ambers occupational therapist is worried that Amber is not using her right eye enough. She says that the brain will completly shut it down if it does not get used enough. I don't think that Amber realizes that she is not using it. It is just easier for that left eye to take over. She is still doing vision therapy. Mrs. Rhonda says that this will help in the healing process.
Amber is getting her hair fixed tomorrow. We are having a time brushing it. So many tangles.... She is doing so good. She is not using her walker at all anymore. The PT wants her not to hop. She wants her to try and walk with weight on both legs.
Amber is staying with Nana tonight. I tried to get Lizzy to but she will not leave Mommy.... :-| Of course the puppies are staying at home too. They are so cute. I am just having a problem training them. Any suggestions????
I am going to work alittle tomorrow. I know they are ready to fire me. It is just hard to go up there with everything else going on. I miss it so much. We are watching LSU play tonight. She wants to start school right now. We have to go to the school board and see what needs to be done. She is walking on her own now. She does not mention her walker. When we go to Walmart, she has to have a wheelchair. Amber still gets real tired. Doesn't take much to wipe her out. We are so proud of her. She is going through things that she doesn't understand and she is taking it very well. She still believes that God has a purpose in life for her.
Alizabeth is being a hand full right now. She has been through alot too. She is showing alot of anger. I heard her tell Amber yesterday that she could tell her everything that happened in the wreck. Liz said that she saw everything that happened so she could tell Amber anything she needed to know. So that tells me it is on her mind alot.
Jeffrey is busy at work. He is also putting his gospel song to cd. Maybe one day we all will hear it on the radio. I have gone back to work for 2 days. Just for a couple of hours. Maybe when Amber starts back to school I can go back fulltime again. Nana and Pops just got back from California today. I think it is time for the girls and pups to spend some quality time with them ;-) .
We have alot of thank you notes to send out. I am getting them ready. We also have some thank yous for the churches that did Ambers benefit. We are a little behind. But we will get them out. I tell everyone all the time how thankful we are to live in Franklin parish. All the love, prayers and support from everyone....

The girls had fun, they both got teddy bears that you build yourself. Sunday the girls went to church with Nana and Pops. Tyler has been at the deer camp. Sunday afternoon we went to Monroe to play in the snow. Emma Grace was there too. They blew ice out of this machine onto the ground and the kids played in it. Too cold.... We all went to eat afterwards. Emma Grace is so silly. I love to watch her little face.
Today I have to take Amber to the dentist and Tyler to get his allergy shots. Lizzy went to school this morning. She did not want to. She cried and cried. Amber goes to a new doctor tomorrow. Maybe they can help her with the headaches. Her eye therapy is going good. She has to stair into a light for 20 minutes. Pretty neat.
She is doing alot better everyday, but please keep her in your prayers because she has along road ahead.

We have so many things to be thankful for that sometimes we overlook the people with more problems than us. So I thought it would be nice that when you post a comment please tell us one thing your thankful for and give us the name of one person or family that you would like to add to Amber's prayer list and please add these names to your prayer lists at your church. I will start by being thankful to the Lord for being to loving and merciful to our family by blessing us with such great friends as all of you! We would like for you to pray for an eighth grade boy from Tensas Parish who was injured in a four-wheeler accident about a month ago. He is under an induced coma and every time they have tried to wake him they have had to put him back under the medication. Please pray for his complete healing and pray for his family. I don't have his name but he is a friend of a friend of ours. If you know of a child, teen, etc. that needs to be on Amber's Pray list please post it and please pray for these children.

We would also like for your churches, if they haven't already to please pray for our pastor and his wife. Dennis and Alice Fontenot were injured Wednesday in a head on collision near the church. They didn't suffer any head injuries, but were injured badly. Bro. Dennis broke his hip and is in Jackson waiting to have surgery on Monday. Mrs. Alice broke her thighbone and is recovering from surgery in Monroe. Karri (my wife) and Bonnie (my mother) came across them at the scene of the accident yesterday and it was very traumatic for everyone.

Amber had fun this week and got to have friends come over. Sara, Gabby, Krissy, and Victoria all came by for a visit. Amber's is so thrilled by everyone's concern for her. She says don't forget to add names of children or families of children who need our prayers.

We had fun this afternoon. The Children's Hospital main office got a chance to see Ambers website and later during the Saints Bingo, they asked us if we would record a radio ad for them. The said that the have a telethon on the radio here in New Orleans to raise money for the hospital. When we come back for a follow-up they would like us to be their guests and to interview us to be recorded and broadcast out on the telethon. Tommorrow's the last day!!
