Happy Birthday (Week) to Kristie!!

Saturday, November 20th, 2004

Last week was Kristie's birthday. So I decided to bring her stuff at work all week long, building up until her birthday on Friday. This was from that point forward, known as, “Kristie's Birthday Week”! On Monday, I brought a vase of three red roses. On Tuesday, I brought a vase of six white roses along with a bag of chocolate candies. The people with whom she works were beginning to see a pattern. I believe I probably ticked off some husbands in the process.

Anyway, on Wednesday, I brought 20 yellow roses and a bag of Hershey Kisses and Hugs. Unfortunately, the bottom of the cheap-*ss gift bag I had came unglued and the candy fell all over the parking lot. Let's just say there were many shiny aluminum and chocolate smears in the parking lot. On Thursday, I brought two dozen roses one pink and one white. After delivering that on Thursday, I went to the flower shop and ordered 31 one roses and some stargazer lilies to be delivered to her on Friday. There were ten red roses, ten white roses, ten pink roses, and one yellow rose.

I stayed up until midnight, and woke her up with three big candles and one little candle on a small cake and wished her happy birthday. She actually kind of freaked out and thought that the house was on fire when she opened her eyes to flames. Then she fell right back to sleep.

On Friday, I brought her a large birthday cake to share with coworkers and a vase of three white and one yellow rose. My hope, of course, would be that she and everyone she worked with would think that was all she was getting. Later that morning, the flower shop delivered her arrangement. I got an AIM message and a phone call from her thanking me for the flowers. Then I asked if she liked the lilies. And she said there were no lilies. I was NOT a happy camper.

I went to the flower shop for lunch and asked them why there were no lilies in the arrangement, especially since I paid extra to have them in it. The people there honestly forgot to include them. They said the 31 rose arrangement was so impressive that they forgot all about it (and it was quite impressive). So they offered to refund me my money back. They also threw out that they could also just do an arrangement of lilies instead and throw some extra ones in there for being so understanding. So that's what I did. I think the arrangement of lilies was worth twice as much as I would have received as a refund. So it all worked out.

After work, Kristie and I picked up Mingy and her mommy and went to eat at Copelands in Monroe. My last few experiences at Copelands were less than spectacular, but the food was REALLY good this time. My only regret is that we didn't go somewhere where they would sing to her and make Kristie wear a big hat (hehehe).

Her mom and Ming came to spend the weekend with us. They went shopping on Saturday while Mingy and I hung out and worked on my computer forensics research paper due on Monday. Yeah, I know. I'm a slacker.

Anyways, it was a most excellent week. I love Kristie very much and just wanted her to have a great birthday week. And I think she did.
