Happy Birthday To Me!!

Thursday, March 30th, 2006

Well, I am officially the big THREE-OH today. Hard to believe. Seems like I was just 23. I guess I am officially OLD! (No offence to those older than me :-) Anyways, I guess I'll be a loser and go to work today :-) Not sure what all we will be doing. I think we will go out to eat tomorrow and maybe have a picnic lunch today. Although I don't care to be older, I am glad to have made it to my 30th birthday….hopefully I'll be around to see Emma Grace's 30th birthday and beyond.

Thank you to everyone that has helped me get this far.

Wes

We are back

Thursday, March 23rd, 2006

We are back in Crowville. We just made it back. We didn't get as good of news as we wanted. Wes has to go back on April 18th to have another CT scan. The CT scan showed no change, but the PET scan showed an active spot. The PET in October and December had shown no active spots. His doctor said it could be an infection from him being sick or it could be from the radiation. He said it wouldn't be a good idea to do a biopsy on it right now, b/c the tissue is dead from the radiation. He said they could run the risk of blowing out the lung and not get anything good to be tested. The spot is closer to the heart than the original spot was. He said the insurance company will probably not allow another PET scan so soon, so he will only have a CT scan. We are going to contact them tomorrow to see if they will contact the insurance to see if they will pay for it. We are thinking that if the CT scan didn't show anything this time, will it show anything next time. We would feel better if they did a PET scan next month since it is what showed something active. We will just try to keep our minds from wondering, but that is much easier said than done. He is scheduled to see the doctor on April 20th.

An update on my cousin, Alizabeth. They saw the dr in Little Rock, but he wasn't all sure of what could be going on. They have had a heart monitor on her and recorded some of the heart episodes, but they didn't have enough information for him to make a decision. He said she could have the Long QT syndrome, but he isn't sure. He needs two or three more recordings. He said it also could be her blood pressure dropping. He said there is a problem, but they need more information. The Long QT syndrome is something new, so they don't have that much information and testing for it. They sent her back home with the heart monitor.

Well, it is getting late and the boss is about to go to sleep. Keep us in your prayers. Thanks.

Zoo

Wednesday, March 22nd, 2006

We went to the zoo today, and Emma Grace enjoyed herself. It was a little cold, but it wasn't too bad. It started to rain a little when we got there, but it didn't last long. They have a nice, big zoo. I think the only thing we didn't see were the snakes, which was fine with me. After leaving the zoo, we did our usual stuff. We ate at Saltgrass, and then visited the 99 cents store. Grammy bought lots of Easter stuff for her little ruggies. We then made a stop at the Marble Slab Creamery. Then it was off to bed.

Hello from Houston

Tuesday, March 21st, 2006

Wes made it through all his test yesterday. While he was getting his CT scan, I got the life almost scared out of me. While he was having his first lovely drink, I went down to check on Grammy and Emma Grace. We decided to eat lunch, b/c it usually takes awhile before he goes back. I was gone about an hour. When I got back up there, he had already gone back. I stayed for a little while, and decided to go back down to check on them again.(cell phones don't work very well inside the building) I was headed to the elevator when five or six medical team people came running toward the CT area with boxes of stuff in their hands. They went back to where they do the scans, and then three security guards came running. I was FREAKING out. I went to the receptionist's desk, and said my husband is back there and I want to know what is going on. The guy said go talk to the nurse in that room. There was no nurse. The guy said go over to the next room, and there was a nurse in there. The nurse said he is fine. If they needed you, they will come out and call you. I said, I just got back up here. He asked what his name was and he said he is fine and not to worry. That still wasn't good enough. I called Grammy and told her and she said you better go back up there and tell them you WANT to know what is going on. They then came out and called for the family of a lady. No one appeared, so I guess she was by herself. Meanwhile, before the guy came out to call the lady's name, another guard showed up. I am still feeling uneasy, but then I see Wes walking down the hall. I felt a LOT better, but the guards were guarding all the doors and when someone went back they escorted them. The medical team finally left, and then I saw them take the lady out on a stretcher. A lady came out that had gone back to help with her mother and said that a lady had a reaction to the iodine injection. I felt better then. Well, I felt bad that it happened, but glad that is wasn't Wes. I waited about another 30 to 45 minutes and he came out. He said that they kept asking me if he was feeling ok, and he said yes. She said, well we have already had someone have a reaction, so we are being a little more careful. He asked her if that is what happened and she said yes. The ladies throat was swelling shut. He told her well I have had this before and she said it doesn't matter. You can have a reaction any time. We came back to the room, and Wes was starving. We went to Target to get a few things we needed and got him something to eat. We decided to go to Babies R Us to get Emma Grace a new car seat. Wes and Grammy swear they moved it, b/c it took forever to get there. The sun was about to kill us. I am surprised we can see this morning. We got her a car seat. We got the Alpha Omega by Cosco. We were looking at the Evenflo Triumph DXL and the Britax Roundabout, but the lady at Toys R Us recommended the one we got. She said they couldn't keep it. She said the Evenflo would be her last choice, b/c of the way it is made. Of course, Grammy had to buy Emma Grace some clothes. She said she nnnnneeeeeeedddddddddeeeeedddddd them. Yeah right. We also got a mattress for the pack n play. She slept on it last night. Also, we put her in her car seat and she seems to like it. Of course, it was sitting on the bed and not in the truck.

We are planning to go to the zoo today, if it isn't too cool. It is getting cloudy, so we might not, but other than that no plans for today. Please say a little prayer for my cousin, Alizabeth. She has been having spells with her heart racing and trouble breathing, and they are in Little Rock today getting it checked out at the children's hospital. Off to get dressed.

We are back in Houston

Wes had to come back for his three month check-up. We got here last night after being delayed by two wrecks. Thank goodness we were not involved. He has already had his PET scan, and his blood work. He is resting before his lovely CT scan, which starts at 12:30. It would be ok if he just went in and had the scan, but he has to drink three glasses of YUCKY stuff (barium) and he has to get something else (I will not discuss it). I think he said he was going with apple flavor again this time. It takes about three hours to get it all done. Emma Grace, Grammy, and I will probably just walk around and look at all the fish tanks. Emma Grace LOVES looking at them. We might even go outside to enjoy the beautiful weather however, it might be too cool. I guess that is all for now.

Just wanted to let those interested know that there are more photos available in the Photo Gallery. If you need the username and password, just let us know. I wanted to get these photos up before we headed to Houston for my three month check-up. We'll let you know how it goes. Hopefully everything will come back fine.

Hello

Wednesday, March 15th, 2006

Wes is feeling better, and he is back at work. He went back to work on Tuesday. Emma Grace is growing everyday. She has a new tooth. It appeared this past weekend. Wes saw it trying to appear last Friday, and Grammy saw it for sure on Saturday. Grammy, Emma Grace and I went to the Spring Market in Monroe this past weekend, and had lots of fun. We bought a few things. They will not let you take strollers in, so we had to carry Emma Grace. She gets heavy over time. We then met Aunt Tammy at Belk's. As always, Grammy couldn't resist buying some clothes for Emma Grace. Aunt Tammy bought her some, too. Emma Grace looks so cute in them. We ate at O'Charley's and then went to Target. Emma Grace had so much fun all day. She smiled at everyone, and would occasionally say hi. There were not many people that didn't stop to talk to her or comment on her smile. Almost everybody would ask, is she always this happy, and the answer is yes. We have truly been blessed.

Well, we are getting ready to head back to Houston next week. We will be leaving on Monday. Wes has a PET scan at 6 on Tuesday morning (so no late sleeping), then blood work and then his favorite of all, CT scan. He will have a day full of test. He will be exhausted by the end of the day, and bless his heart I don't think he will be able to eat until after the CT scan. I guess it will be according to when he finishes his PET scan. He has a free day on Wednesday, and he will see Dr. Fayad on Thursday at 2:00, and then we head HOME.

Oh, well, I guess that is all for now. Please remember to pray that all his test come back with GREAT results. I will post as soon as we know something. It may be late Thursday or Friday, since his appointment is so late on Thursday and we have to check out of the hotel by 1. Have a good day. (looks like it is going to rain here soon)

The latest

Thursday, March 9th, 2006

Emma Grace decided to get her first real cold. She had a stuffy nose and a cough for a few days, but then on Monday night she developed a little fever. We took her to the doctor on Tuesday. He thought she may be getting the flu, so he ran a test by putting saline in her nose and taking a swab sample. The test came back negative, so he said she had a head cold. He gave her an antibiotic, and she is much better. She never really acted like she was sick. She was her usual happy, active, lovable self.
Wes has not been feeling well the last few weeks. He got to feeling really bad Wednesday night and had a high fever. We decided to go to Crowville around midnight, so he could go to the doctor in Winnsboro before the storm hit on Thursday. He just has a really bad cold. He got a shot and some antibiotic. He will have to go back this morning and get another shot. The doctor told him to drink lots of fluids or go into the hospital. I think he will drink the fluids. He is feeling much better this morning. We are off to get his shot.
