Happy Halloween

Tuesday, October 31st, 2006

We took Emma Grace trick or treating tonight, and she had a fun time. We also took Lizzy with us, and she seemed to enjoy it. We went to Boo on Main Street in Winnsboro. Emma Grace was a ladybug, and Lizzy was a princess. I am sure Wes will be posting photos soon. Emma Grace was so busy watching all the people that she wasn't too worried about the candy. There was a clown at the Princess Theatre, and she wouldn't take her eyes off of her. She wasn't scared just in a daze. I guess that was her first time to see a clown. We did see one at the Boardwalk in Shreveport a couple of weekends ago, but I don't think she got a good look at it. After we left Winnsboro, we went to Aunt Delayne and Uncle Jarrell's house. We were headed to Jarrod and Deanna's, but she brought her brother, Alex, over to Delayne's. We then headed to Uncle Roy's house, but he wasn't home, so we visited with Ms. Elaine and Mr. Ronnie. By the time we got home, Emma Grace was exhausted. I gave her a bath. Wes gave her a bottle and she was OUT before 9. She is usually up until at least 11 or later. Trick or treating was hard work.

She has started walking really well. She is still a little wobbly, but she can get it going. However, if she wants to get there fast, she turns to crawling. She loves climbing, especially the rocker. We have had to turn it around against the wall so she cannot get into it. She also attempts to climb her baby gates. Don't know what we will do when she conquers that. She still loves watching Barney. Her face lights up and her whole body moves when she hears that music start up. She is so much fun, and growing up so fast.

Amber is doing lots better. She is still in New Orleans, and will be there for another three weeks. She can talk better, but it is still a whisper. She has a cast on her right leg, but she can stand on her left. We are thinking about going down to see her this weekend.

Wes has to go to Tampa week after next. I am trying to decide if I want to go. Well, I want to go, but just don't know about riding that far. If I do go, we will take Emma Grace to a few Disney parks and to Sea World. Tampa is only about an hour and a half from Orlando. If I don't go, he will fly.

Well, I guess that is all for now. Please continue to pray for Amber and her family

Stone update

Wednesday, October 25th, 2006

Wes went to the dr yesterday, and they did an ultrasound and found no kidney stones. The dr said he must have passed it. He gave him some suggestions of what to drink to keep from getting more stones.

Emma Grace tried on her Halloween costume tonight. She looked so cute. She didn't like it at first, but eventually got used to it. She still isn't too fond of wearing the headband, so I disassembled the handband and will use hair clips. She is getting better at walking. She loves to throw a ball, walk and get it and then throw it again She does that over and over until the ball goes under something and she cannot get it. She still loves watching Barney. Grammy brought her Over the Edge. She watched it, but parts of the movie are not for kids. She said Amber this afternoon. I have been trying to get her to say it, b/c she can already say "izzie" for Lizzie. I want her to be able to say it when we go see Amber in New Orleans; however, she will probably not say it when I want her to. :-P She is a mess, and growing up so fast. Wes and I were looking at pictures last night, and it is so hard to believe how little she used to be.

Amber is doing better. She likes it in New Orleans. They are working her hard. I talked to her yesterday, but she can only whisper. Today, they are going to put her to sleep to check the pins in her leg, and they may remove the pins. She has come so far, but still has a way to go. Please continue to pray for her and her family.

Well, I guess I better go. It is raining outside and it is making me ssssssllllleeeeeppppppyyyyyy. Goodnight

Still no stone

Friday, October 20th, 2006

Wes still hasn't passed his kidney stone. He has been hurting quite a bit the last two nights. He rode with me to Rayville yesterday to pick up some makeup I ordered thinking the ride would move it on out, but it didn't. It has been a full day since Emma Grace has seen her Grammy. We have been picking on Grammy saying Emma Grace doesn't remember her. Grammy called yesterday and she was in Old Navy. There is no telling what Emma Grace will be getting when she comes back today. I know she bought her something at Dillard's.
I decorated the yard for Halloween, and Emma Grace was excited to see the big light up pumpkin, but her favorite is still the blow-up carousel that her Granddaddy and Grammy bought. It is a giant pumpkin with two ghosts and a witch on a carousel. The other night Grammy plugged it in, and took Emma Grace out to watch it. When it started rising, the ghost popped up and the gin across the street made a noise and Emma Grace's little feet went to moving. Grammy said she ran back to her to get away from it, but she still loves looking at it.
We probably will ride over to Shreveport on Sunday to see Amber. She leaves for rehab in New Orleans on Monday. She has improved a lot, but still has a long road ahead. Please continue to pray for her and her family.
Guess that is all for now. Hope you like the new website set up. You can leave comments by clicking on the add comments below each entry.

Also, new photos are available in the Photos section .

Still….. no kidney stone

Wednesday, October 18th, 2006

Wes still hasn't passed his kidney stone. He said last night that he could feel it moving. He is staying home from work the rest of the week, just in case it decides to move again. It is raining again. Mama just called and said they were letting school out around 11:30 or 12, b/c of the water rising. We needed rain, but just not all at one time. Amber is going to New Orleans for rehab next week. Please continue to pray for her and her family. Emma Grace has been acting so silly. She just talks and talks and talks, and makes the silliest faces. It is so funny. I surely don't know what we would do without her. Grammy is suppose to leave for a conference in Alexandria this afternoon, and will not be back until Saturday. She says Emma Grace is going with her. She said that Emma Grace could learn to make stuff just like her and Ann. I told her the only way Emma Grace was going is if her mommy and daddy went. :-) Well, I guess that is all for now. I will let you know when the kidney stone appears. If it hasn't by Monday and he is still hurting, Dr. Liles wants to see him Monday.

Kidney Stone

Tuesday, October 17th, 2006

Yesterday, Wes' kidney stone decided to move. He called me around 11 saying that James was taking him to the ER in Vicksburg. I asked him if he wanted me to come over, and he said to wait. About an hour later, James called and said I needed to come get him. Luckily, mama was out of school because of all the rain we had Monday- we got over 15 inches. I called her, and she went with me. I called Wes before we left, and he said they had done a CT scan to make sure that it was a kidney stone. When I got there, James was still with him. Thanks James for taking him. He said Wes had a 3 mm size stone that had moved from the kidney to the bladder. Wes was pretty much out of it. They had given him some pain medicine, and he was feeling no pain. He would say things, and then say I don't know what I am talking about. We left the ER a little after 3. He slept the whole way home. When we got home, he didn't remember leaving the hospital. Last night, he asked what they did to him at the hospital, and what did they say was wrong. He said today has all been a blur. He cannot remember what they gave him for pain, but it sure worked. They gave him two prescription for pain. He still had a little pain last night, so he took one. He slept all night, but he decided to stay home from work today. He still hasn't passed it. Guess that is all for now.

The latest

Thursday, October 12th, 2006

Emma Grace developed a fever last Thursday night. She had been fussy all day, but didn't feel warm. I thought maybe she was cutting a tooth. We checked her temp. that night, and she had 101.8. We called the dr's office, and they said that there was a virus going around with just fever. The next morning we took her to the dr, and that what it was. He gave us a prescription for an antibiotic, but said to only get it filled if she got a cough or stuffy/running nose. He said that most of the time they run fever then a few days later break out in a rash, have a cough or a stuffy/runny nose. We were suppose to take Lizzie to Shreveport that afternoon, so we asked him about going. He advised us to not take her to the hospital. She was a danger of giving anything to anybody, but she was in danger of getting something from the hospital. We keep her away from the hospital, and her fever was gone by Saturday. On Monday night, she started coughing, and by Tuesday morning she was really coughing and had a runny nose. I called the dr and they called in a cough medicine and said to give her the antibiotics. Lizzie had a cough before the wreck happened. It started getting worse last week. While we were at the hospital this weekend, she started having a little fever and a runny nose. Wes took her to the dr on Monday, which was an EXPERIENCE for him. She DOES NOT like going to the dr. She kept asking us, “are they just going to give me medicine.” The dr wanted to give her a shot, but Wes said we had a hard enough time getting her finger poked for blood. They gave her medicine, and she seems to be getting better. She just still has the bad cough. Wes said it was someone else's turn to take her next time. Once they got her finger poked, she was fine. She also doesn't like taking medicine, so mama has to encourage her to take it. The first day all she would do was worry about taking that medicine, but she is getting better though. The first wasn't easy. She spit it everywhere.
Emma Grace is still trying to get the walking down. She walks for a little bit, but then realize she can get there faster crawling. We taught her to do touchdown, and she will do her arm up when she see a big truck for them to honk. She learned both of those so quick. It is amazing how fast she learns things. She still only has six teeth, but we think we see another one. Wes put up her Halloween globe Tuesday night while we were in Monroe at the funeral home. When she saw it, she started going ooooooooooooooo. She is so funny when she sees it. Her biggest thing now is saying what's that. She will point at it and say what's that. This afternoon we took her out to watch blow up, and she was so excited. Aunt Delayne pulled up about that time too. She saw her vehicle and started waving.

Wes went to the dr on Monday. The dr showed us the kidney stones on the CT scan done in Houston. One of them had scar tissue around it, so he said it had probably been there a while. The dr said it was on the verge of a sneeze of coming out. He said if it did and Wes noticed it to get it out. He said your hands will wash. The dr is very funny. He has a very dry sense of humor. He looks like he is mad at the world, but he is really a nice man. He said that if Wes continued to have trouble in the next two weeks to call him back and they would do a scope to see what was going on. He said he was young and it was really not a problem, so he didn't want to go exploring. He said to let nature take it's course. At first, he said wait two months, but when Wes told him he was still having problems he said two weeks.

Back to why we went to the funeral home, my mother's father's only living brother died on Monday. He was 89. He was working on a shop or shed, and fell. He broke his hip or did something to his knee, and had to have surgery. He died while in surgery.

Lizzie's birthday is Sunday, so tomorrow I am going to pick up her cake from Wal-Mart. Mama and I took her last night to pick it out. She wanted a princess cake with flowers. Well, she got a Brat cake. I think it has flowers. It took her a while to pick it out, but not as long as it does for her to pick out a toy. She is so funny. She is in pre-school, so I will take the cake to her class. We are also going to give the kids treat bags. We will take her over on Saturday to see her mom and dad. We would leave tomorrow, but mama has a workshop on Saturday morning. She is still having a hard time being away from her mom and dad, but she LOVES going to school. I don't think I have ever known a kid to like school so much. She was upset Monday when she woke up because she didn't go to school. She said I am not sick.

Amber had leg surgery on Tuesday, and face surgery on Wednesday. She made it through both surgeries fine. She still hasn't woken up. They are hoping she will in the next few days. You can see updates on her by clicking her name under links or by going to www.monceaux.org/Amber. She is a strong little girl, but she still has a way to go. Please continue to pray for her and her family.

Well, I better go.

Emma Grace has started taking steps

Wednesday, October 4th, 2006

Emma Grace started taking more steps Sunday at the hospital, but Monday she really got busy. She walked a good bit up-and-down the hallway. I wouldn't say she has mastered it, but she is on her way. Amber is improving. You can go to her website by clicking the link over on the left that says Amber. We have been keeping Lizzie, and things so far are going great. She likes to play with Emma Grace some times. Emma Grace likes to pull her hair and she doesn't like that. When Emma Grace wakes up in the morning, she looks for Lizzie. We took her over last night to see the balloon release at First Baptist Church. Several churches around the area did balloon releases for Amber. We are planning to go over Friday after school. Wes has an appt with the kidney doctor on Monday, but he may cancel if Amber has surgery. Guess I better go I have to get up in a few hours to get Lizzie ready for school. Grammy usually comes to help, but she has early duty in the morning. Please pray for Amber and her family.
