We finally got to go outside…..

Saturday, February 24th, 2007

Emma Grace and I enjoyed the nice, warm, sunny weather this week. She loved being "side". I asked her if she wanted to go outside and she will say "side" or sometimes it comes out "outs-side". She runs to the door and knocks. She gets VERY upset when we don't go out fast enough. She loves walking up and down the driveway picking up rocks and leaves. She also loves to swing. She will go straight to her swing when I ask her where her swing is or if she wants to swing. She calls it "wing". Wes put up some new photos, and you can see that her swing had sleepy dust one day. It was so cute, but bless her heart she couldn't get comfortable. She is not too fond of her stroller anymore. We go to the post office, and by the time we get back she is READY to get OUT. We didn't get a chance to play outside today because of the weather, but maybe tomorrow. We are going next weekend to the daffodil patch near Tammy's. Hopefully, it will not rain. I need to find Emma Grace an outfit to wear. I want to decorate some overalls for her, but I don't know if I will have time. Not much has been going on. We went to watch Lizzy cheer last night. She was SSSSSSOOOOOOOOO excited that Wes was coming. We survived the weather today. The wind was something else. Emma Grace would hear trees against the house and say "uh-oh". She woke up talking and entertaining this morning and never let up as the day went on. She is so funny. She was excited to see her Grammy drive up this afternoon. Grammy had been at a workshop in Winnsboro all day. She knows her Grammy's vehicle, and starts waving the minute she sees it. We ate at the Cafe tonight, and she LOVES hushpuppies. I am going to start calling them EmmaGracepuppies, and you DO NOT combine her "ish" and her potato with her hushpuppies as Grammy learned the other night. She still enjoys her ketchup too. She also loves cole slaw. We can only give her small pieces of it. She loves for you to put her hushpuppy in the slaw. She is getting jaw teeth, but they are still not out enough to really chew. Once these come in, she will have a total of 10. She has four front top and bottom teeth, and the two top jaw teeth are coming in. The bottom jaw teeth look to be getting ready to make an appearance. They don't really seem to bother her, but I just probably jinxed myself. Wes is feeling better since he had his cold. He still just tired easy, but seems to being doing fine. We go back to Houston the first week of April. I guess that is all for now. Until later….

Happy Valentine's Day and Happy Birthday Tammy……

 :-*

Wes went back to work yesterday. He is feeling better. Hopefully everyone got their Valentine's Day cards. If not, then maybe tomorrow. I tried to send them off so everyone would get them today. I think the cards turned out really well. The first few I made I wasn't pleased with. I had so many ideas I wanted to do, but just couldn't get them to come together. I decided to just experiment, and they turned out cute or at least I think they did. Now, it is on to St. Patrick's Day.

Well, it has decided to turn cold again. I like cold weather, but I think I am ready for 70 degree weather. I am NOT ready for 90+ degree weather. Emma Grace and I are ready to GO OUTSIDE. Auntie Kim is in Washington, D.C. this week and she is freeze her you know what off. She said Wes better be glad he didn't go on Monday. I talked to her last night, and it was sleeting and snowing. She said the ground was white. I just want it to snow, so Emma Grace can go out and play in it. Aunt Tammy sent Emma Grace a Valentine's Day card, and she was so cute opening it. I handed her the envelope, she turned it over, opened it and pulled the card right out without any help. She acted as if she was reading the front of the card. It was so cute. It had a kitten on the front and she just talked to it. I asked her if she wanted me to open it and read it to her and she nodded her head yes. As I was reading it, she laughed just as if she knew exactly what I was saying. It had glitter on it, so we had to be careful with it. Tammy said I thought about the glitter as I was signing it and tried to get it off. Emma Grace is taking a nap, and I wish I could. I was up till 4 this morning making valentine bug cups for Grammy's and Lizzy's class. They were cute, but not as cute as I would have liked for them to have been. We couldn't find self-stick wiggle eyes, and I WASN'T gluing eyes on 42 cups. I should have started on them last week, but I was too busy with cards. I think we will make something for St. Patrick's Day and Easter. I made Rudolph cups for Christmas, and they were too cute. I wish I had taken pictures of them. I modified the Valentine cups, because I didn't want to have to wait on glue to dry. Also, I did the wings different than the directions said; because like I said earlier I had to make 42 cups, and they were suppose to have two big wings with little wings inside of the big ones. I decided that was too much to cut out and glue, so Wes made me one big wing and I stapled them to the cup. I started to color the staple so you wouldn't be able to see it, but I was tried of looking at them. Well, I guess I better go get stuff ready to cook for supper. Hope everyone had a happy Valentine's Day. Don't forgot to go look at the new photos. Wes put up all of the photos from the Valentine's card photo shoot. I had a hard time deciding which picture to put on the card. I made him narrow it down to six, and then I still couldn't decide. Decisions, decision. Oh, well, later…..

Wes still isn't feeling well….

Monday, February 12th, 2007

Wes was supposed to leave for D.C. yesterday, but since he was still not feeling well he didn't go. He stayed home from work yesterday, and said if he still felt the way he did most of the day he wouldn't go to work today. He was clear of fever yesterday, but still wasn't feeling well at all. Emma Grace is better. She has a cough that only occurs at night when she goes to bed. She had a little fever Saturday afternoon and Sunday afternoon. I called the dr today and he said to get some over-the-counter cough medicine. The nurse said if she continued to have a fever to bring her back in. She has been so silly today. Grammy brought her some Valentine's Day balloons and she LOVES them. It is so cute how she says balloon. Sunday night she forgot they were over there and got so excited when she rediscovered them. She is growing up so fast. She just talks talks talks all the time; however, half the time we cannot understand the language she is speaking. When we were in Atlanta and at the aquarium, we were looking at some fish along with some Japanese people. We started to ask them if they could tell us what she was saying, since it sounds like she is speaking Japanese or Chinese. :) Since it is after 3 in the morning, I better get to bed. Later…..

Emma Grace is feeling better, but Wes isn't…..

Friday, February 9th, 2007

Emma Grace seems to be over her illness. She didn't have any fever Friday. Wes was going to go to work, but when he got up he felt terrible. I told him Thursday night that he wouldn't feel like going, because he still had fever. He went back and got his other shot and some cough medicine. When he came back, he felt terrible. He had fever off and on all day, and didn't move from the couch. Tonight, he had a chill so bad that when Karri called she thought something was bad wrong with him. I think he freaked her out. I checked his fever, and it was 103. We were out of Tylenol, so I called Roy to see if he had any. Mama and Daddy had gone to Oak Grove to the funeral home. Roy said he had some Advil, so I went and got it. He made me bring the whole bottle. Wes took two and I sat the bottle down, and then I noticed they expired in August of 2001. They were not working, so I went to the store here in Crowville and bought a two pack of Tylenol until I could go to Wal-Mart. Grammy got back and came to watch Emma Grace while I went to Wally World. When I came back, Wes still had a little fever, but it seems to be down now. Well, Emma Grace is asleep and I am sleepy too. I will let you know how Wes feels tomorrow or today rather. He is suppose to go to D.C. on Monday, but I don't know about that. He doesn't need to be on a plane, and he doesn't need to be out in the weather that they are predicting for D.C. I guess we will see how he feels Sunday. Later….

Now, Wes is sick…..

Wednesday, February 7th, 2007

Emma Grace is still running fever, and now Wes is sick too. He came home yesterday with a very sore throat. I checked his fever, and it was 102. He went straight to bed. I checked it during the night and it was back to normal. He didn't go to work today. I checked his fever around 11, and it was 102 again. I got him a dr's appt for 1:30, so he is at the dr right now. Emma Grace is playing in the middle of the floor with the singing teddy bear. She loves to sing and dance with the bear.
She doesn't like for me to check her temp, but she will get the thermometer and try to check on her own. It is too cute. She is so sleepy right now. She was so upset when her daddy left to go to the doctor. He has been trying to stay away from her in case he has the flu. When he came in the living room, she ran to him hugging and trying to climb his legs. She loves her daddy. Well, I will let you know what the dr says about Wes. Until then…….

Update: Wes has a viral thing like Emma Grace, but the dr gave him a shot. He has to go back tomorrow and get another one. He also gave him an antibiotic. The dr said his white count wasn't down, but a part of it was going up, so an infection might be coming. He had drainage in his nose, throat and ears. He wanted to stop an infection before it started. Emma Grace's fever went back up to almost 102, so I gave her some medicine. It is down now, and it time for her nap. Let you know how things are going later…..

Yucky, Yucky

Tuesday, February 6th, 2007

I had to take Emma Grace to the doctor yesterday. She felt a little warm when I went to lay her down for her nap, so I checked her fever and it was 101.6. I waited about 30 minutes and checked it again, and it was 103. I called Grammy, and she said she would be right over. I told her I was calling the doctor to see if he could see her this afternoon. I called, and they said to have her there by 4:30. Grammy came immediately, and we headed to Monroe. We walked in the dr's office, and it was FULL. Grammy took Emma Grace back out to the vehicle, and I waited for them to call her back. We were finally called back about 5:30. They took blood, and did a flu test. Her white count was low, but the flu test was negative. The dr. said it was a virus just like last time. He said it had to run its course. He said it was so much going around right now. We left and went to get her some ice cream. I decided to run in Wal-Mart and get some Tylenol, so we could go ahead and give her some. I didn't take it with me, because I never thought we would be there as long as we were. When I came out, we checked Emma Grace's fever and it was 104. I called the dr's office and they said to go to the after hours clinic which iis n the same building as her dr. We went by there to get them to check her fever to make sure out thermometer was correct, and it was. They gave her Motrin and told us to wait about 15 minutes and they would check it again. They said we really didn't need to travel with her with that high of fever. They checked it again and it was 103.2. They said to wait another 15 minutes. Emma Grace was just lying in Grammy's arms, and I was freaking out. They gave us a wet towel to wipe her down, and we took her out to the vehicle because it was warm in the office. I went to the bathroom and by the time I came back Emma Grace was sitting up talking and watching Nemo. We knew her fever was coming down. They checked it and it was 102. They said she was fine to travel. We left and she back to herself. She talked and laughed the whole way home. We have given her another round of Tylenol and she is due Motrin in an hour. She is so sleepy, but will not give it up. She is running around the living room playing. I have a MAJOR headache. The kind of headache that you have when you have fever, and guess what, I checked my temp and I have 100.5. Well, I guess I better try to get Emma Grace to sleep. I will let you know how she feels later on today.

We are back….

Monday, February 5th, 2007

We made it home last night around 9:30. We left at 1 Atlanta time, 12 our time. We made a few gas/diaper changing stops and a dinner stop. We also made a stop at Babies R Us to get Emma Grace some more croc shoes. She loves wearing her hot pink pair, so I got her a purple and turquoise pair. She discovered over our trip that she likes to wear them on her hands. She will also put her socks on her hands. I think Wes has photos of her with her socks or shoes on her hands. She was certainly showing that she is getting close to her terrible twos. I have never seen her act the way she did while we were gone. On Saturday, she acted liked herself, but the other days I don't know who that kid was. I guess I will give a day by day account of what we did. I was going to do it while we were there, but I had to borrow Wes' computer because I left mine at home.

Friday: We went to the Aquarium, and Emma Grace seemed to enjoy it. We bought our tickets in advance, so we wouldn't have to stand in line. Brad has a membership pass, so we got to go in the membership entry. It was the way to go. There was no line, and I was glad because it was COLD. However, we were all but stripped stretch to go into the aquarium. The man looked through my purse and diaper bag, but the craziest thing was he made me drink Emma Grace's juice. I had an extra big bottle of it, and he made me open it and drink it. It had never been opened. I broke the seal to open it, but he said you must drink it. I can honestly say I don't know how she drinks that nasty stuff. :-P Then he did the wand around me, but he didn't do Emma Grace which shocked me since he made me drink the juice. Wes wasn't happy about having to be check like a criminal. The first thing we looked at was stingrays and bottlenose sharks (I think). Emma Grace wasn't too fond of them. She was like that with a lot of the big fish. I touched the stingray, which I had done before at Sea World. They said they had removed their barbs. We were wondering if they did that after what happened to Steve Irwin or did they do that anyway. Emma Grace wanted to get down and walk around, but she just didn't want to go in the direction that we were supposed to go in. She would pitch a fit wanting to get down, but once she saw a "ish" she would be fine. We couldn't take the stroller into the different areas, so we had to tote her. Brad said they had just started making you park your strollers outside each area. I guess because it would get so crowded. It wasn't very crowded, so I highly recommend going on a weekend when school is in. She liked looking at the sea lions and penguins. One of the sea lions was so cute; he/she was giving himself/herself a bath. It was so cute how he/she would wash his/her face. She also liked the BIG wall of fish. She pitched her a fit in the gift store, but she was SOOOOOOOOO sleepy. She almost fell asleep walking back to the truck, and was asleep before we made it out of the parking garage. She slept for about two and a half hours. We went out to eat, and she was showing those terrible twos again. I think Brad has bruises all over his legs from her kicking him under the table. She refused to eat pieces of a roll or baked potato (which she loves to eat). Wes had to get up and take her outside to make her happy. We then tried the ketchup, and that worked. She sat there and ate ketchup. She also fed her face and nose with ketchup. We have pictures of it. We started to steal the bottle of ketchup, because that is the only thing she seemed to want to eat and Brad's ketchup had expired many a years ago.

Saturday: Emma Grace decided she would eat this morning. She ate two jars of cereal. We went to Turner Field to the Braves Fan Fest. It was COLD. We were hoping to get some photos with some players, but on the paper they give you listing the players and times they would be signing autographs it said NO PHOTOS PLEASE. We decided to just run the bases with Emma Grace and leave. The only player I cared about was Chipper Jones, and he wasn't signing autographs until 3. We walked by the line at 12:30 and it had at least 100 people already in it. I said forget that. It is too cold, so we left to find food. We ate at Doc Green's, which I highly recommend. It is a healthy fast food place. (I guess) It was very good. And, guess what, Emma Grace decided to eat again. She ate mashed potatoes, and about fell asleep while eating. Wes asked her if the eating fairy came during the night. She has refused to eat on this trip. We tried everything. She did eat a little mashed potatoes at the Cheesecake Factory on Wednesday night, and a few mac n cheese noodles on Thursday night. The only thing she wanted was those puffs. She ate almost a whole container on this trip. She also fed alot to her car seat and to Brad's floor. We went back to Brad's and the sleepy bug finally took her over. We watched Talladega Night. Stupid, but funny in some parts movie. We decided to go back to Doc Green's for supper. I wish they had one somewhere around here. After that, we had to make a Target run. I got Emma Grace some broccoli cheese soup and mac n cheese at Doc Green's. She took a few bites of the soup and decided she was back to not eating. I had gotten her some ice cream at Target, and she inhaled it. I would trick her and put some soup in with it, but she quickly realized what I was doing. If I gave her the ice cream and it was white, she would eat it, but if I gave it to her and it was yellow she wouldn't eat it. She knew when it had the soup with it. She is so smart.

Well, I guess that is all for the trip. Grammy and Granddaddy came to the house to turn the heat up so it wouldn’t be too cold in the house when we got home. Emma Grace was glad to see her Grammy. When we walked in the door, Emma Grace saw Grammy and started waving at her. Her whole body started twisting and she wanted down. She ran straight to her Grammy. Don’t know who was more excited, Grammy or Emma Grace. Emma Grace ran to all her toys and started pulling them out. You would have thought she had never seen the toys before in her life. She ran from toy to toy so excited to be out of her car seat and to be back home. Well, Wes goes to Washington, DC next week, but Emma Grace and I are staying home. He will only be gone for a day. Emma Grace will not be happy. She loves her daddy. She was so excited when he came home today, and cried when he went to use the bathroom. She wanted him to hold her. We had to pull her highchair by him, so she would eat. Yes, she actually did eat today. Wes put new photos up, so go look and enjoy. Until next time…..

Hello from Atlanta

Thursday, February 1st, 2007

We left yesterday afternoon since Wes got out of his meeting early. We decided to come on then, so we wouldn't have to get up early. We got here around 9, and headed to find something to eat. Everything closed at 10, so we ended back up at Kroger and got frozen pizza. Emma Grace had mac n cheese. She loves running around and watching Uncle Brad's BIG tv. She also loves turning it off and on, so guess what, it now has a cardboard cover on it like at home. For those of you that don't know what I am talking about, we have had to cover the buttons on the tv. She loved turning it off and on, and changing the channels. It wouldn't matter about our tv, but it would blow the bulb in Uncle Brad's. We might would have to put her on the street out here to sell hugs and kisses to buy another one. We are going to the Georgia Aquarium at 2. You have to make reservations if you don't want to stand in line forever. I am not wanting to stand in line in this freezing weather.

I forgot to mention in yesterday's entry that Emma Grace thinks everything is cool. When we got to the hotel in Birmingham, we had big ceiling to floor windows. Wes pulled back the curtains, and Emma Grace said "cool." Then she looked out, and said "that is cool." Everytime she sees something she says "that's cool". On the way here, she could see all of the lights in the different towns we passed through, and she would look and say "ah, that's cool" or "mama ook(look)".

Oh, well, I guess we better get ready to go to the aquarium. Later.
