Not a fun Sunday

Sunday, April 22nd, 2007

Emma Grace gave us a little scare yesterday. She was playing on her slide and came down it on her belly (like she always does) and started crying. I was talking to Kim and notice that she wasn't moving her right arm, and she was rubbing it with her left hand. Wes was taking pictures of her and he didn't think anything about it because she really didn’t do anything different. She kept crying and holding her arm. Wes handed her sippy cup to her and she couldn't hold it, so we knew something was wrong. I called Grammy (they had gone to town), and she said they were on their way. I called the after hours clinic and they said to take her to St. Francis North, so as soon as Grammy got here we left. She settled down but if she moved it she would cry. It didn't take long for the doctor to come in, and he said that she had what they call Nursemaid elbow. He took her arm and twisted it just a little bit. She cried for a little bit. He said they would x-ray just to be safe. He said by the time she comes back from x-ray that she will be moving it. She was moving it within a few minutes after he popped it. He said it is very common in young kids, and the younger they are the easier it goes back into place. The nurse gave her a popsicle and she enjoyed it while we waited to have it x-rayed. They x-rayed it and everything was fine. While we waited in the ER room, Home Alone 2 was on and Emma Grace LOVED it. I laughed at her watching it. She was watching it before he popped her arm back in, but after he did it she was really into it. She would get all excited when something would happen to the bad men. She would say oh no, and have her mouth wide open. I had the camera with me, but she stopped when I started videoing. After we left the hospital, we took her to Eskimo's for ice cream and headed home. Her arm seemed to be ok, because she played outside the rest of the evening and played inside all night like nothing had happened. They told us that once it starts doing this it will likely happen again, and to be very careful pulling on her arm. I am just glad that was all it was. I didn't like seeing her in pain and crying. I guess she couldn’t let her Auntie Kim get all the attention. Kim has been working New Orleans this week, which she hasn’t enjoyed. Friday night, they were after a guy who shot another guy. She got out of her car to chase him on foot, and didn’t realize that she was in loose gravel and that there was a hole. She said her feet flew out from under her, her Taser gun went one way and her cell phone the other. The guy she was riding with said all he saw were her feet going up in the air. She quickly got up and grabbed her Taser gun. After it was over, the people she was working with asked her about her arm and she didn’t want to look. She said I really didn’t feel it until they started talking about it. Let me just say this, bare skin and gravel do not go together. It looks really bad. Some of the places look infected. She went to the ER, and they attempted to clean it out. She has to pour peroxide and something else (I cannot remember what) on it to clean it out. She just LOVES doing that…. NOT…. She said Sunday that she was really, really sore. She said if she hadn’t had her vest on, it would have probably hurt her worse. So, needless to say, she didn’t finish her week out working in New Orleans. I guess the guy that got shot is ok, but the guy they were chasing was shot in the finger, and it was barely hanging on.

On Saturday, Grammy, Emma Grace and I went to Vicksburg to Riverfest. Emma Grace enjoyed it. There was a man there from Canton, MS that cuts out silhouettes by hand. I held Emma Grace or at least I tried to hold her while he did it. This man is good. He never stopped cutting while she moved all around. Wes will have to scan it in and put it on the site. Grammy and I were very impressed with way he just sat there and never looked at what he was cutting.

Well, I better get to bed. I have lots to do this week. We are planning to do a festival in Columbia in May and the Peach Festival in June. There are a few more that we are thinking about, but just haven't decided. Wes has already done graduation invitations and thank yous for one girl, and we should have another order today. I have a few orders for the t-shirts and bows, so I have to get busy. All for now……

Oh the fun we have been having….

Last week was a very hectic week. We had to get ready for the Catfish Festival that was on Saturday. Every night was a late night or early morning. I think I went to bed around 4 or later every night. We made $210 that day, which was good considering it FLOODED earlier that morning, and not many people came out. A lot of the vendors didn't show up. On Friday, mama took my bows over to school and sold $70 worth, and got request for more. It was an exhausting day Saturday, just wished the weather had been better. It turned EXTREMELY cool later on in the day. I was hoping they would have booths available in Vicksburg this weekend, but I cannot get anyone to return my calls or emails. We are thinking about doing the Peach Festival in Ruston in June, and I am looking at others.

Emma Grace has been putting on a show lately. She has blossomed so much in the last two weeks. She is talking in sentences, and likes to repeat what you say. (Guess we have to be careful now so she will not embarrass us out in public) :-P She is such a DRAMA queen. Her favorite words are "OH NO" with her hands on the side of her face or on top of her head, but mostly the side of her face. She is so DRAMATIC with it. She is starting to take her pants off and diaper off, so I guess it is time for potty training to start. Not looking forward to that. :) She loves to talk on the phone. (Imagine that) Grammy gave her an old cell phone. She opened it up and starting dialing away. Look as if she was playing a game boy. Tammy asked her are you talking to Auntie Kim. Emma Grace said blah blah blah (couldn't be understood) Kim. Now, she does it every time she plays with a phone. You can only understand Kim. She loves talking on the phone to her Auntie Kim. Kim is the only person she will talk to every time, and Kim loves it. She has been doing so much lately I am trying to think of it all. She took her Time Out chair that Grammy bought her (Yes, I said time out chair Grammy gave her –hahaha), and put it up against the gate so she could climb over it. Grammy and Tammy stopped her before she tried it. She loves watching Blue's Clues now. She will say it's a ccccooooo. It is so cute. She can even point to the clue on TV. She now moves her hands just like the guy on there does, writes in her notebook and points to her head when he says think think think. For the notebook, she turns her left side inward and takes the index finger on her right hand and acts like she is writing. For think think think, she points to the side of her face (like when we sing if you are happy and you know and your face will surely so it). I show her to point to her head, but she still points to her face. (That is close enough for us) Saturday night, Tammy drew a paw print on a piece of paper and asked her what it was and she said "a cccooo". Tammy said she can identify shapes, b/c it wasn't colored blue. Also, Saturday night, she would take plastic eggs apart and put one on her left foot and one on her right foot and walk around. We laughed so hard. She would say "sssshhhhooooo". Tammy was taking pictures of her with them on and she posed and posed. She gave the biggest smiles and would say cheese. She had us laughing so hard. Wes got a glass storm door to go on the door that we use, and she LOVES it. The expression on her face Friday morning when she saw it was priceless. She ran to it and said "something something mommmma side". She saw her swing and said "wing". She was so excited. She loves looking out it, so we got another one for the other door in the living room that looks out the front toward the road. It was too dark tonight for her to truly enjoy it tonight, but she was so excited when she saw it. She had her mouth open and ran to it. I cannot wait for in the morning. She will be glued to it watching the "karz" going by.

The child loves to sing and dance. She will dance to anything, even Sanjaya on American Idol. We laughed at her tonight. She would come running in the living room, and start shaking her booty. Then when they finished, she would clap and scream for them. Every time a song comes on a show or if she plays any of her singing toys, she sings right along with it. She hums most of it, but occasionally says the words. She has become our little entertainer. We never know what she will do next. It is so much fun, and exciting. She is growing up so fast. I was putting a fountain ponytail on top of her head today, and couldn't believe how much her hair has grown. The Easter Bunny got her a ball, bat and glove for Easter. She brings the glove and ball to me and says "here ya go". She likes for me to throw the ball and she goes to get it. She likes to hit her daddy with the bat. She got a few good licks the other night.

I guess that is all for now. I know there are some things I left out. If you or someone you know would like to buy hair bows, photo collages, or photo invitations, leave us a comment or call us or email us. Wes has been asked to do some photo graduation invitations and he has been thinking about doing other photo invitations, like birthday. The first birthday ones are cute. We can also do monogram items like burp cloths, diaper covers, shirts, hair ribbon, onesies and many more things. We just cannot do big bulky things. Just ask us to see if we can do it. Also, we have t-shirts with ribbon sewed on the front with a bow. We can do them plain or monogram an initial or name on it. The sizes are 12m, 18m, 24m, 3T, 4T and 5T. I have also done newborn, 0-3m, 3-6m, 3-9m, 12m, and 18m onesies with the ribbon and bow. I am currently looking for older girl sizes. If you would like to see a photo of them, email me at kristie@monceaux.org. So, if you know of anyone that would like for us to do something for them, tell them to contact us. We also have the photo purses that are very cute and great gift ideas.

Guess I better get to bed….. Later….

Wes is boring, and proud of it….

Thursday, April 5th, 2007

We just got back from Houston, and according to Dr. Fayad – Wes is boring…. :) I told him I would rather it that way, and Dr. Fayad said too much excitement at the beginning. I told him yep, and I didn't want anymore. Wes said he was fine with being boring. Oh, and by the way, Wes' test came back all clear – that is why he is boring. Since all was clear, we don't go back till August. If all is clear in August, then we will not have to go back for six months.

We took Emma Grace to the zoo on Wednesday, and she had the best time. She loved seeing all the animals. She especially loved dancing to the music at the sea lion show. We also went shopping, and got her her summer wardrobe. :)

Emma Grace is starting to make sentences. When you ask who and point to Wes, she says "that's da". I drove up the other day and she said "that's momma". She is also saying there it is, Abby (it is ABBBBEEE) and clock. She calls Grammy – memememe. You can show her something of Dora and she says Daara. She loves to play with her bat and ball. She will even get her bat and use it as a microphone. She hums the tunes of songs. She keeps right with the tune of it. She got an Easter bunny from Wes' grandmother, and it sings and taps its foot. She will sing with it and tap her foot right when it says to. She was playing it in the elevator and singing and tapping her foot. The people in the elevator laughed and clapped for her. When she finishes singing, she puts her arms up in the air like that's the end. She is doing so much stuff that it is hard to remember all of it right now. There are two things she will not do. They are ride a carousel (which she did at the zoo last year and at Disney World), and slide down a slide. Grammy and Granddaddy bought her a slide, and she refuses to come down by herself. If she does, it is on her stomach. She did the same thing at the zoo Wednesday. She refused, but then turned over and came down. There was a 19 month old there and she must have gone down that slide five or six times, and didn't want to leave. Her mother told me she was a daredevil, and that she climbs everything. I told her Emma Grace loves to climb and isn't afraid of the dark, but WILL NOT slide down a slide.

Well, I guess that is all. As you noticed when you came to the website, that we have started an adventure. The Catfish Festival is next weekend, and we are getting stuff together for a booth there. We have lots to do, so I better get busy.
