The latest…….

Tuesday, October 30th, 2007

Well, as most of you know Wes is back from Alaska. I haven't had time to make an entry. The weekend following his return, we went to a festival in Vidalia. We did very well. It started on Friday night and went through Sunday. It was held at the same time as the Natchez Hot Air Balloon Festival. Emma Grace liked seeing the "big balloons". She was ok with them as long as they stayed their distance. Grammy took her to sit on the bank of the Mississippi River so she could watch them and as they would get close and make the noise they make when they pull whatever they pull (you can tell I don't know much about hot air balloons) she would climb her Grammy. She didn't like that noise, but other than that she LOVED them. She missed them Saturday morning when they landed all around us. Wes picked on Tammy because she had to go use the bathroom and all they had there was port-a-johns. He told her to be sure she took her phone in case they landed on top of it. We plan on going next year too. The place we stayed in was something to be desired, so I am already looking to make reservations at the hotel right down the street.

While we were gone, Jarrell was able to get our dirt work done on the house. Wes says we will be sitting high on the hill looking down on everyone. They also got our temporary pole hooked up, so we have electricity. Right now, we are waiting for the forms to be set and concrete to be poured. It was suppose to be done this week, but the other house that Aaron is building wasn't able to get it done last week so they are getting it done this week. We went to Monroe this past weekend to pick out a few things. We bought our front door and kitchen sink. We also found the flooring for the entire house, but we forgot to take the plans. We will have to go back. We also picked out faucets and toilets. We found a good deal on kitchen appliances, but are holding out on the after-Thanksgiving sale at Lowe's. A guy there told us that he has heard they will have a package deal. We just have one problem; we will be at Disney World. He said we can call him and pay for it over the phone, and they will hold it for us. We also found another kitchen set that was at a really good price, but he said if they run the same deal at Lowe's like last year then it will be cheaper than the other place. We are trying to decide on kitchen countertops. We found some tile that we would like to use, and we found some granite tiles we liked. We just need to make a decision on that. Emma Grace loves going down and running around on the dirt. When we pull up, she says "go see my room". Grammy told her that the other day, and she hasn't forgotten it. Hopefully, Wes can put some photos up soon of the dirt. We will be taking pictures along the way, and hopefully we will have time to post them.

We took Emma Grace to Boo on Main Street tonight in Winnsboro, which was a waste of time. By the time we got there, everyone was gone. They started it at 3:30 and by 5:30 everyone was gone. We weren't able to get there until 5:30. People were complaining about how early they started it, so may be next year they will not start it so early. It makes it hard on people that have to work, and some kids don't get home until 4:30 from school. We will take her to a few houses trick or treating tomorrow night, and we will post a picture of her in her costume tomorrow night. She looks so cute in it.

This weekend we have a show in Natchez, so I have to get busy. We will leave Friday afternoon. The show starts on Saturday and runs through Sunday. Wes has been able to get the catalog of items we do on the EG Creations site. It doesn't look as well as we would like it, but he will try to work on it at a later date. I don't know how to do it or I would work on it. If you go and look and see something you like or have a question, just email us. We have done so much more that isn't listed. We try to take pictures of everything, but I forget most of the time.

Well, I better try and get Emma Grace to bed. She has started saying and repeating so much lately. It amazes us at the stuff she can do, and how much she changes everyday. I cannot wait to take her to Disney to see the princesses; however, she will probably be scared to death of them. Oh, well, gotta go.

I have posted some photos from my trip to Alaska.

Enjoy!!

He made it….

Wednesday, October 10th, 2007

Wes made it to Fairbanks around 8:40 our time, which is 5:40 Alaska time. He is staying at a Bed and Breakfast that doesn't have internet nor does it have a TV. He has had some funny stories about the place. He said it is up an incline and their car almost didn't make it. He said it got to the top and stalled out. It has been snowing while he is there. I have found some webcams online, and I just looked and it looks like it snowed pretty good last night. He said a lot of the off roads going to the BnB are covered in snow. He is still sick. He sounded terrible yesterday morning and last night. During the day yesterday, he said he felt like he had fever, but thank goodness his ears have unstopped and he could hear. I told him to go get him a thermometer and some Vick's at Wal-Mart. Yes, there is a Wal-Mart in Alaska. My mom could survive there. :-)

There was an aurora Wednesday morning around 3, but they missed it. The BnB owner said he checked around 2 and there was nothing. They have told them they will wake them if they see one. I am about to call him to make sure he is up. They serve breakfast at 8:30.

I talked to the bank yesterday, and the closing on the house should be next week. Entergy came out yesterday and told me where we need to put our temporary pole and what we need to do when we get ready for the permanent pole. Aaron is going to put that down on Saturday morning. He will also tell me how much dirt we will need, so it looks like we will be starting soon.

Well, I gotta get busy since we have orders to fill and a festival next weekend. Later…

Wes is off to Alaska….

Monday, October 8th, 2007

I just hung up the phone with him, he was in Memphis. He left Monroe around 6:35, and I made it back home about 5 minutes and he called. We were all pretty apprehensive about him going, since he had fever over 101 at times yesterday. He went to the dr and got some medicine, so I hope he will be ok. He has sinus drainage with a secondary infection starting. Emma Grace was his nurse yesterday. She would cover him up, pat his head, kiss him and bring him all of her stuffed animals or toys. I was checking his fever last night with the ear thermometer, and she would take one of her toys and try to stick it in the other ear. She is certainly a copycat.

She woke up to tell her daddy goodbye. We left here around 4:45. Grammy came to stay with her, and I think Grammy thought she could sleep more. Well, Emma Grace had other plans. She is still awake and going strong. We have laughed at her. I don't know what Grammy put in her sippy cup this morning, but I want some of it. :) She is still saying "bitch" for witch. I am so afraid she is going to embarrass me in Wal-Mart. Last night, she had her Halloween flashlight and it had the witch cover on it. She came running in the living room saying where did my bitch go. She would say it over and over. I looked at Grammy and said she is saying …. I looked at her flashlight and the cover was off. I said, "Oh, no, where did your witch go?" Her response was with both hands on her head, "Oh, no, where is my bitch." She ran to her room, and we found it on the floor. She said, "There's my bitch." I know we shouldn't laugh, but she is so serious when she says it.

Well, Wes just called me, and he is about to take off from Memphis. (8:45) He goes to Seattle next, and then on to Fairbanks. I just checked the weather in Fairbanks, it is 25 degrees and snowing. It is going to be FREEZING up there. I hope he doesn't get sicker. I told him I wasn't too up on flying alone, and that was a LONG way to drive. :) Well, Emma Grace is still going strong, and I am about to fall out of the chair. Guess I will try and see if she wants to sleep. (hahaha) later…..

Update: (2:00)

Wes made it to Seattle around 1:20 our time. His ears were killing him. He didn't have fluid behind them yesterday, but he said he must now. He said coming down was tough, and everything he tried didn't work. He didn't sound too good. He was still on the plane, and said once he got off he was going to take medicine. I am about to call him back to check on him. I finally got Emma Grace to sleep, but not before she decided to decorate her room in powder. I have never seen so much powder in all my life. She had it all in her hair, all over her face and all over her clothes. There were not many places in her room that didn't have powder on them. It was a mess. Back to Wes, just got off the phone with him and he sounds terrible. He said his ears were killing him. He has a 3 hour layover, so maybe his ears will stop hurting.

We are getting everything finalized to start building our house. The bank called today, and we are just about ready to "sign our lives away". :-) It is exciting in one way and very scary in another way. Remember if you need any hair bows or anything monogrammed give us a call.

People have been asking about new photos. Hopefully in the near future Wes can put some photos up. He just hasn't had the time, and I don't know how to do it. I am going to get him to show me so he doesn't have to do it all the time. Sorry….

It has been a while….

We have been so busy the last few months. I will just give a rundown of things we have done.

July:
At the end of July, we went to Biloxi to see Tim McGraw and Faith Hill. The concert was on a Friday night, and we left Sunday morning. We took Emma Grace to the beach to take some pictures, drove along the coast (not much left on it), did some shopping at the outlet mall, did our usual visit to see the flower arrangement at the Beau Rivage, and ate at the new Hard Rock Casino. It was sad to see how much damage was done, and nothing really has been done to get it back. The only things that have really come back are the casinos. There are a few houses, a few hotels, a Waffle House, condos and a swimming suit/souvenir shop. It is mostly grass about knee high. There were no street lights (had to walk in the pitch-black dark after the concert was over. the traffic was so bad before the concert, so we parked a mile from the coliseum.), only close to the Beau Rivage, and most of the traffic lights are gone. A few piers have been built back, and they were working on a few. The beach area has a LONG way to go before they get back to anywhere near where they were. It was pitiful to see, and at the same time, amazing to see just what water can do. If you went to the next main street from the beach, you would never know there had been a hurricane. (the street is maybe a mile or so from the beach) Wes and I have been to Biloxi several times (my engagement ring came from there, we were engaged on the beach, we spent our first anniversary there, and we have gone to two concerts there), and every place we remember was gone, except for the mall, coliseum and the Beau Rivage.

Aunt Kim came over to see us. She visited with Grammy and Emma Grace while we went to the concert. Emma Grace didn’t want her to leave. Emma Grace got a few clothes. Grammy got her some school clothes. Wes bought me the matching band to my wedding band. I wanted to go in and see if they still had it, and they did. I couldn’t believe they still had it after 5 years. He told the girl that if I could get it on my finger I could have it. I knew I could because it was the same size as my other one, but it was so hot and humid that my fingers were swollen and I was afraid if I tried it I wouldn’t be able to get it off. As the lady was going to put it back in the case, Wes said we will take it. I thought he was joking, but he wasn’t. I put it on, and I thought I would never get it off. Thanks to dish soap and cold water it finally came off. I wore it more one day, but couldn’t anymore. My finger was purple, so I decided if I wanted to keep my finger I better wait until I could get it sized.

Wes had his three month check-up in Houston, so we left on Sunday headed that way. On Monday, we took Emma Grace to the Kemah Boardwalk. She had SOOOOOO much fun, and it was SOOOOOOOOO hot. She rode everything that I would let her ride, and wanted to ride all the others that I wouldn’t let her ride. She would say ride dadad ride. She wouldn’t go to anyone but Wes because he was the only one who would ride with her. At first, we didn’t think she was going to ride the merry-go-round, but she did. After that, we headed Houston. Wes had his test on Tuesday. As I was washing clothes at the hotel, I ran across Ms. Janice Poulos. She was down there taking radiation. It was so nice to see her, and she was so glad to see us.

August:
On Wednesday, we went to Galveston to the beach. We ate at the Rainforest CafĂ©. Emma Grace wasn’t as scared as she has been before, but she was a little apprehensive at times. She would get so mad when a wave would come in and almost knock her down. It was so funny. We headed back in, and did a little shopping at our usually shopping area. Grammy needed to go to the school supply store there, and it was a good thing we did. Everything was 20% off. We dropped Wes at Fry’s. On Thursday, he had his dr’s appointment and everything checked out GREAT. His regular doctor was out of town, so we saw the doctor that was covering for him. She was nice. She likes for her patients to move from three months to four months and then six months, but she said it would be up to Dr. Fayad. After that, we visited with Ms. Janice, and headed home. We don’t have to go back to Houston until February.

The week after we got back, Aunt Kim had to work in Vidalia. She came up and had supper with us one night at Jesse’s. The next day, she decided to scare the $@&^ out of me. I don’t remember what I was doing, but I heard this VERY LOUD noise. I knew it was a helicopter, but it sounded as if it was going to land right on top of the house. I went outside, and all I could see was its shadow. I ran in and got Emma Grace and the keys to the truck, because if it was going to crash I wasn’t going to be in this house. When I went back out with Emma Grace, I looked up to see Auntie Kim hanging out the side waving at us. She just better be glad she was that high up. Emma Grace would just wave at her. I ran inside to get the camera, but couldn’t find it and when I did they had already gone. They had the whole town of Crowville looking up. She said you could see people looking up at them. Well, it isn’t everyday around here that a Coast Guard helicopter is hovering over us at about 300 feet. The guys with her thought it was cute how Emma Grace was waving at her. For days, you could say where is Auntie Kim and she was look up and make the noise she makes for an airplane.

We launched our monogramming/embroidery business, and it has been very steady. We did lots of things for the teachers. We put Lizzy’s name on her backpack. Wes wasn’t so sure about it, but it worked. We are trying to get everything together to put on the EG Creations' website. We helped Grammy some to get her room ready. We went over to Tammy’s new trailer, and helped her some.

September:
I don’t have a clue where this month went. It went by so fast. We were so busy monogramming. We got a new machine. The one we had just wouldn’t allow us to do some stuff, and we would have to take the sides out of kids’ shirts and Grammy would have to sew them back up. The new machine is WONDERFUL. It has six needles, so we don’t have to change the thread all the time. We also don’t have to take the sides out of shirts anymore. Grammy is SOOOOO disappointed, NOT….. Wes gave us a scare on the 23rd. Tammy came over to visit and had been gone long. Grammy ran to town to get a snacks, etc for school and supper. We were putting a name on a backpack, and Emma Grace wanted to color. Wes sat down on the floor with her, and got up to go get a diaper to change her. He got very dizzy, and was holding his head. I asked him what was wrong and he said I am very dizzy. He went on and changed her diaper, but he wasn’t feeling any better. I was in the kitchen and he came in and sat down. He said check my heart rate, and when I did it was beating REAL fast and then real slow. Daddy had just come in and I told Wes to go let him check it. He did and Daddy called Momma and told her to get here that we need to go to the hospital. Wes was very pale looking and for him to say he needed to go to the hospital, I knew it wasn’t good. Roy had stopped by to see the new machine, and he was concerned too. We headed to Monroe, but we only made it to Rayville. Wes thought he was having a heart attack, and his heart rate wasn’t going down. We got there and they took him in immediately. His heart rate was 215. They gave him a shot of medicine, but it didn’t come down. They gave him another shot of something else, and it started coming down. It never really came down to normal. It would go down to 90 something and then back up to the 120’s or higher. They put an IV on him, but it wouldn’t come down to normal. They said he could be admitted, but we told them we would like to go to North Monroe. They called and the ER doctor there was busy, and told them to call back. They did, and they accepted him. The ambulance came, and we FLEW to Monroe. I have never been so glad to get to a hospital. That was a crazy ride. When we got there, his heart rate was still up. It would go from the 110’s to 150’s or 160’s. At one time, it went to 182. He could tell when it was about to go up. At times, he would get light headed when it would go up. He would say it is about to do it, and I would look and sure enough it was up. After we got to Monroe, his heart rate never went below 100. They gave him a shot and then four pills. His rate was still up. Daddy, Momma and Emma Grace were out in the lobby for a while. Emma Grace watered the plants, and then discovered the water fountain. She wanted to give her baby a bath in it. Since it was around 2, they decided to try and get her to sleep, so they went to the truck. Around 3:15, I went out and told them to go home. They had brought a new bed in for Wes, but told us it could be a while before he was moved to a room. Emma Grace was OUT. They left, and when I went back in his heart rate was 68. They had unhooked him as he was changing beds, so I thought they had forgot to hook something up. The nurse came in and said it is finally down to 70, and it stayed that way. She brought me in a bed to sleep in, because she said it would be sometime in the morning before he was moved. We stayed in the ER until after 1 on Monday. They moved him to the 2nd floor, and Emma Grace and Grammy made it back. Emma Grace wasn’t so sure about her daddy at first, but she got over it. She put on a show. She climbed up in the bed, and pretended to wash his hair. She got a little tired, so I decided to take her outside to stroll around and see if she would go to sleep. As we were outside, I ran upon Dr. Minor as he was headed out. He said what are you doing here. I told him what happened and he said he would try and get by to see us in the morning. Emma Grace was almost and I ran across a man I worked with in Rayville. His mother had a light stroke, but they were headed home. After many hours of waiting, we finally saw the doctor. He was very nice and personable even though it was almost 10. He said he had had a very busy day, and apologized for being so late. He said this is a problem that Wes will have from now on. He said it isn’t if it happens again, but when it happens again. He said if he was about 50 years old or older they would be more concerned or if he had heart damage. He said his heart was fine, and this is just something that some people have. He gave Wes a prescription for pills to take when it happens again. He takes four of them. He said that since they had worked before they would work again, but if not then go the hospital. He talked about a procedure that can be done, but isn’t necessary right now. He said the chemo or radiation could have caused it, but he wasn’t for sure. He said you can go home tonight or in the morning. Wes told him he wanted to go home tonight, so about 11 we headed home. He worked from home the rest of the week. He has been a little light-headed a few times, but other than that he has been feeling fine.

Well, I am finally to now. We had a booth this weekend at the Old Courthouse Flea Market in Vicksburg. Grammy, Emma Grace and I went over Friday afternoon to meet Wes. We got a room at the Holiday Inn Express. If you ever need to stay in Vicksburg, I HIGHLY recommend this hotel. It was the cleanest hotel I have stayed at in a long time. I think it might ever bet the Rotary House we stay at in Houston. We got up early to set our booth up, and people were already out shopping. We were not the only ones putting up our tents, but most everybody was already set up. It was so hot and humid the whole day, but luckily we were on the side where there were shade trees and we were blocked by most of the sun. We had lots of people say how beautiful or cute our stuff was, but not many people bought. We had several people needing different sizes than we had, and had several people take cards. There were lots of people there, but people were just not buying. We had several other vendors tell us that people were just not buying. Grammy got Emma Grace a horse swing made out of a tire, and the man said that he is usually sold out by 1 everywhere he goes. I have seen him before, and he is always selling. Also, there is a man always there selling little lizards made out of foam that shoot water out. He always sells out, and he had several left. We were disappointed, but we have another show in two weeks at Vidalia. It is the weekend of the Natchez Balloon Festival, so maybe we will sell more there.

I finally put out some Halloween decorations today. Wes put up Emma Grace’s blow-up pumpkin, and we took her out to see it. She has also learned a new word today. She was talking to her Auntie Kim on the phone today, and Grammy was showing her a flashlight with Halloween things on the end of it. Grammy showed her the witch, and she said that’s a bitch. Kim and Grammy thought it was funny, and it is but I am afraid she is going to go out in public and say it. She is now walking around saying bitch, bitch. I told her not to say that word, and she said ok momma, but continued to say it. She has started saying so much lately. We have a hard time understanding her most of the time, but she is getting so much better. She will repeat anything you tell her. She loves the Barbie Island Princess movie, and can repeat most of it. She will sing with Roe (the main character), and dance around her room. She is certainly our little entertainer.

Wes is off work Monday for Columbus Day, and then leaves for Alaska on Tuesday. He isn’t looking for to it. The guy that was suppose to go with him started hurting last week in his side, and they are not sure what is wrong with him. Wes has to go by himself, so he isn’t real excited. He will not be back until Sunday. We are finalizing the bank stuff for building the house. We should start on it around the end of the month, and should be finished by April. Oh, well, I am sleepy, and Emma Grace is still going strong at 1:15 am. I am going to try and wrestle her down….
