Dr’s appointment….

Friday, January 25th, 2008

Wes doesn’t have the flu, thank goodness. He has the rhinovirus, which is basically the common cold. He got a shot and some medicine. He is sleeping now. I checked his fever about 45 minutes ago, and he didn’t have any. It doesn’t look like we will get any snow, just rain. Oh, well, maybe next time.

Hoping for pics and Happy Birthday Grammy….

Thursday, January 24th, 2008

I tried to put pictures up tonight, but they were TOO big.  I thought Wes had downsized them, but they were still too big.  He isn’t feeling very well, so he wasn’t able to look to see what was wrong.  He woke up this morning with a sore throat, and tonight had 102.5 fever.  He is going to the doctor in the morning.  We hope he doesn’t have the flu, since a man he works with has it.

They are really moving along on the house.  I went down today, and he said the electrician and a/c man will be there next week.  Today, was Grammy’s birthday.  Emma Grace and I went to town and got her some flowers.  She told Grammy this afternoon, “We went to almart, flowers for Grammy.”  She was so funny while we were going to Walmart.  She would say, “Go to almart and get flowers for Grammy,” and then would act like she was smelling flowers.  She was cute at the cafe tonight.  She would ran over to one of the counters and hide her face and then come running where we were.  I asked her if she was playing hide and seek, and she told me yes.  She went back over to the counter and I heard her say “7, 8, 9, 10, here I come.”  I have no idea where she got that from.  It must have been on a tv show she watched recently.  Well, I better go.  Hopefully, we will have snow tomorrow, but I doubt it.  However, there is always hope….

The last week…..

Wednesday, January 23rd, 2008

Wes had his heart cath last Thursday, and they had to put a stint in.  He had some damage/blockage caused by radiation, but the stint opened it right up.  He has to take Plavix for at least a year, and probably for the rest of his life.  He had to stay in the hospital over night on Thursday.  The doctor was very surprised, and glad he did the procedure.  In his words, “He couldn’t have lived like this.”  The doctor that put the stint in said it went in very good.   He has to start doing some type of aerobic exercise, so it will strength the vessels.  Some of the vessels are small and weak due to the radiation, but with exercise they can come back.  He is still sore where they put the cath in.  I think the doctor thought he was going to be an in and out patient, but as Wes told him, “It is never easy with me.”

They have the house almost blacked-in.  They put the dormers up today.  We have windows in our bathroom and bedroom.  They also put the stairs up and we have sub-flooring on the top floor.  Lowe’s finally delivered the tub/shower and shower on Friday.  We picked out the color of the siding, not sure of the name.  It is a dark gray/brown, I think.  We are still trying to decide on what type of floor and countertops.  I will try and go down tomorrow and talk to our builder to see what is next.  It has been cold and rainy the last two days, so Emma Grace and I haven’t gone down. As we were leaving this afternoon, we noticed it was snowing.  When we got back home, I put Emma Grace out in it and she was so funny.  We told her to open her mouth and she did and would say, “MMMM, snow is good.”  The flakes were not big, but it was definitely snow.  We have pictures.  Grammy is hoping it will be a foot high in the morning, but I don’t think that will happen.  Tomorrow is her birthday, so she is hoping for it.  She said it snowed when she was born.  Emma Grace has taking a liking to yogurt again.  She will eat two at a time.  We now let her go to the refrigerator and pick it out.  She doesn’t have quiet the strength to open the door, but when she does we will be in trouble.  She is so funny when u ask her to show you her muscles.  We have laughed so much at her.  Hopefully, we can get it on video and put it on here.  I guess that is all for now.

Not so good news….

Monday, January 14th, 2008

Wes went to the doctor today to have his stress test done. He did fine, but they found a blockage or something, and he has to have a heart cath on Thursday at 1:00. The doctor really isn’t sure what it is, but the test showed blood wasn’t flowing to part of the heart. Not the news we were hoping for, but we will handle it just as we have everything else.

They put the rafters up on top of the house today. When we left at 8 this morning, they had already done over our bathroom and had two up on the main part of the house. They were putting a third one up when we left. They finished just after lunch. The shower and tubs are supposed to be delivered tomorrow. Our builder is hoping the plumber will get to us next week, but he isn’t sure because he has other jobs to do. Hopefully he will come to us, but I doubt it.

We went shopping on Saturday.  We got faucets for all the bathroom sinks and kitchen sink.  We didn’t see a shower head we liked.  We got a really good deal on our kitchen faucet.  It was priced at $98, but rang up at $32.  We didn’t complain.  We have all the paint colors picked out, except for Emma Grace’s room and bathroom.  We know what we want to do in her room, but just haven’t decided on the right purple.  We are thinking about doing big stripes of different colors of purple on top and putting chair railing and then another color of purple.  Not really sure yet.  Our room will be a medium tone of brown with chair railing and darker brown on bottom.  Our bathroom will be the medium tone of brown, and so will the office and 1/2 bath.  The living room will be cabin red.  The kitchen will be a golden yellow color like we had in our house in Vicksburg.  I am not quite sure of what to call the color of the extra bedroom.  It is a little orange, but not really.  We are still debating on flooring and counter tops.  We still have a while before we have to decide on that.  We picked out shingles for the house, which was the easiest decision.  I cannot remember the exact name, I think it is Weather Wood.  It is a little gray, a little black, and a little brown.  It all depends on the way the angle of the sun.  We are waiting for the guy who will put the siding on to bring samples.  He forgot to bring them today.  We are waiting on some things for when we go to Houston the first week of February. We are planning to go to IKEA while we are there.  We are thinking about taking the trailer with us, but we are not really sure of where we can park it.  I am going to call the Rotary House, where we stay, and we if we can park it in the valet parking spaces.  They are never full, so I don’t see why they wouldn’t let us.  Hopefully, they will let us.

Emma Grace stayed with Grammy today. Grammy was just taking a half-day off, but the appointment ran longer than we thought. They watched the rafters being put up, and got lots of video and photos. Wes asked Emma Grace this morning if they were like Bob the Builder, and she said, “Yep, Bob the Builder.” She enjoyed playing outside today, and didn’t want to go in. We were on our way back from Monroe Saturday, and stopped at the Rayville Walmart. Grammy was changing Emma Grace’s diaper in the back of the vehicle, and a little black boy walked by. Emma Grace said, “Little boy. It is Little Bill.” If you don’t know who Little Bill is, Bill Cosby has a show that comes on Nogin that is about a little boy named Bill. She loves watching that show. It was so funny, and you can still ask her who she saw at Walmart and she will tell you Little Bill. She can count to 12. She will sometimes forget to say 5 or it is mixed in with 6. This afternoon when she was counting I thought she said13, but I am not sure. The other day she counted along with Dora in Spanish. Grammy heard her, but I didn’t. Another thing she does, which Tammy loves, is when we go to the cafe and she sees Tony Stewart’s Home Depot car in a picture they have hanging up, she says, “That’s Tammy’s car.” Tammy got a Tony Stewart calendar and Christmas ornament for Christmas. She showed it to Emma Grace and said, “This is Tony’s car.” I guess Emma Grace thought she said Tammy’s car. There is so much she is dong it is hard to remember everything. I always say I am going to write it down, but I forget to. I have most major “events”, but it has been so hectic around here I just forget.

Well, it is almost 1, and I was up before 6 this morning, so I am ready for bed. However, Emma Grace isn’t ready for bed. I asked her earlier if she was ready for bed, and she said, “Not really.” I asked her if she was ready for her pj’s and she said, “Not really.” Who knows where she heard that at. She just amazes me with the things she says and does. She is growing up so fast. I better try and wrestle her to bed. Later…

We went shopping….

Thursday, January 10th, 2008

We now have a Jacuzzi tub and a shower for our bathroom, a tub/shower for Emma Grace's, and a tub/shower for upstairs. It is scheduled for delivered on Tuesday. They were not able to work on the house today, because of the rain.

Wes had his echocardiogram today. He doesn't know the results. He goes back on Monday for his stress test. Guess that is all….

Moving right along…..

Wednesday, January 9th, 2008

The whole first floor is framed. He said that by the end of next week they should have it blacked-in and could possibly have the shingles on it. Wes goes to the doctor tomorrow, and we have got to pick out a shower and tub. Hopefully, we can find something.

Emma Grace LOVES going to her house. She can show you exactly where her room is. We went down this afternoon to write our name in the concrete on the porch before it dried. I was hoping that we could do her handprints, but it had dried too much. She ran out on the front porch and left a little bit of footprints. It isn't too bad. She doesn't like when it is time to leave. I can only imagine how she is going to act when we move in. Oh, well, I need to get Emma Grace to bed. Later….

The frame is going up….

Monday, January 7th, 2008

It is starting to look like we are really going to have a house soon. They started putting the frame up today. They have the north side of the house up, and half the east side up. They have our utility room, half bath and pantry framed off. He said if it wouldn't rain tomorrow that could probably get the whole first floor framed. Emma Grace and I went down there this afternoon, and it was neat to watch them work. Emma Grace enjoys running around. She would dance in her room, and say "havin a party". After they finished the utility room, she wanted to go over there to the "house". She no longer wanted to play in her room. Uncle Roy came over to look, and she told him all about it. She also would wave at everybody going by on the road. I can only imagine how much she is going to enjoy that front porch. Well, back to watching the LSU game. Hoping to get photos up soon. Later….

Happy New Year…..

Thursday, January 3rd, 2008

Hope everyone has a wonderful and healthy new year. We tried to shoot fireworks, but it was TOO cold and TOO windy. We shot a few, but Emma Grace was ready to go inside. She was ccccccooooooollllddd. On new year's day, we went to Monroe to eat because it was my dad's birthday. We also did a little shopping. Found some really good deals at Home Depot and Hobby Lobby on Christmas decorations for this year. Yesterday, we went to Wal-Mart in Rayville, and got lighted trees for the front porch. Wal-Mart in Winnsboro didn't have much Christmas stuff left, but they didn't have much to being with.

Wes went to the cardiologist today. His appointment was at 12:30, and he didn't go in until 3. Emma Grace and I had to sit in the vehicle because they don't allow children in the waiting room. Emma Grace and I watched DVDs and played for four hours. She did really well too. She counted to ten. She was just playing around and started counting. She did it for the first time the other night. Wes was holding a book Grammy bought her, and she just started counting and went all the way to ten. He said she just counted to ten. We asked her to do it again, and she went to 8 and started laughing. It was as if she was saying you want me to do it again, but I am not. She did it again last night while she was looking at the same book. Wes heard her, but I didn't. Today is the first time I have heard her do it, and when she finished she turned around and smiled at me. Of course, I clapped and told her good job, and she jumped up and down. We watched the Disney trip DVD, some of Dumbo, some of Tarzan, and all of Nemo. She also re-arranged the DVD carrying case. She kept asking, "where my daddy" and "why daddy not come". Back to what the doctor said, Wes has to go back next Thursday for an echocardiogram, and then Monday for a stress test. He will also go to a lung doctor where they will put him in a box (or something like that) to test his breathing. Dr. Burkett said that if Wes didn't have all the other problems that he would just say he was just out of shape, but since he is having problems (when he takes the garbage out or does anything that gets his heart rate up, he has to rest to catch his breathe and it feels like it is burning inside, and, of course, the heart racing for no apparent reason) and has had other problems(cancer, chemo, radiation) then he wants to check everything out. (Wes says it is because he is fat and out of shape) Dr. Burkett said heart problems related to radiation usually do not show up until later on (doctors in Houston have told us the same thing), but it might have affected the lung. (That is why he will see a lung doctor.) We don't know when the lung doctor appointment will be, but they are suppose to call to give him the date.

We will have concrete in the morning. YEA!!!!!! Well, we are suppose to have it in the morning. It has been too cold the last two days, so they couldn't pour. From what we have been told, our builder was about to go get the concrete himself and pour it. I talked to him tonight, and they are suppose to be there at 8 to start. Lumber was also delivered yesterday, so it is looking like we are about to get this process started. It cannot start soon enough.

Well, Emma Grace is asleep, and I think I will head that way too. Later….

We have CONCRETE……..

Thursday, January 3rd, 2008

We have finally gotten our concrete. We took Emma Grace down to see it, but she said it was cccoooollllldddd. They didn't pour the porches, but when they do we will put handprints in it. I was going to do Emma Grace’s where her room will be, but it was already too dry. Grammy took a lot of pictures this morning since it was too cold to take Emma Grace out there, and plus she was still asleep. She woke up around 5 this morning and went back to sleep around 7, so she snoozed till 10. Well, I have to go pick up a dress to monogram may be Wes can put pictures tonight. Later…
